Changes in use of radiotherapy among dermatologists from 2013 to 2017
JAMA Mar 23, 2021
Nguyen KD, et al. - A cross-sectional, population-based retrospective analysis of dermatologists submitting Medicare claims was performed to identify changes in radiotherapy (RT) use and payment among dermatologists treating patients enrolled in Medicare. Between 2013 and 2017, the number of dermatologists using radiotherapy increased from 115 to 198, with a median payment of $80,810 per dermatologist in 2017. The results of this cross-sectional study show that dermatologists' use of RT is on the rise. Dermatologists bill a wide range of RT services. Further research is required to ensure expanded use is safe, efficacious, and cost-effective.
