Bailey HM, Zuo Y, Li F, et al. - Using the Wide-ranging Online Data for Epidemiologic Research database, age-adjusted firearm mortality and years of potential life lost (YPLL) rates per 100,000, and %YPLL from 1999 to 2016 were obtained in order to evaluate temporal patterns and inflections in the rates of firearm deaths and %YPLL because of firearms for overall and by gender, age, race/ethnicity, intent, and states in the United States between 1999 and 2016. Within the United States, between 1999 and 2014, firearm mortality rates and YPLL prevailed to be constant and have been rising consequently. In various subgroups and individual states earlier than 2014, there was, nevertheless, an advancement in firearm mortality rates.
