Sakamoto S, et al. – The variations in multiple cytokine concentrations in the anterior chamber were comprehensively studied during the induction phase of ranibizumab therapy, in patients with neovascular age–related macular degeneration (AMD). The inflammatory cytokine levels in the aqueous humour of the eyes with AMD appeared to be strongly suppressed, while matrix metalloproteinase 9 (MMP–9) levels increased, following two-monthly consecutive antivascular endothelial growth factor injections.
