Changes in hepcidin and hemoglobin after anti-TNF-alpha therapy in children and adolescents with Crohn's disease
Journal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition Jan 18, 2018
Atkinson MA, et al. - This study was initiated in order to gauge the effect of anti-tumor necrosis factor (anti-TNF-α) therapy on the hepcidin and hemoglobin (Hgb) levels in children and adolescents with Crohn's disease. Data shed light on the correlation between anti-TNF-α therapy with decreased levels of hepcidin and increased Hgb 10 weeks after induction in the patients. As a secondary benefit, an improvement could possibly be noted in anemia, among children who received this therapy.
