Changes in glycaemic control, blood pressure and lipids 5 years following laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding combined with medical care in patients with type 2 diabetes: A longitudinal analysis
Clinical Obesity Mar 30, 2018
Mistry P, et al. - The intention of authors was to contemplate the longer term metabolic outcomes following laparoscopic adjustable gastric band (LAGB) combined with medical care in adult patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in a tertiary UK centre. It was deduced that LAGB when combined with multidisciplinary medical care, led to a notable improvement in the metabolic outcomes in such patients independent of diabetes duration, and baseline body mass index (BMI) over 5 years. Findings reported that the changes in glycaemic control, blood pressure [BP] or lipids following LAGB were not speculated via diabetes duration and baseline BMI.
