Vannatta CN, et al. – A quantification was pursued of the variations in hip muscle forces and hip kinematics possibly occurring when healthy runners were asked to alter their foot strike pattern from their habitual rear–foot strike to a forefoot strike. This instruction altering the foot strike pattern caused variations in peak gluteal and hamstring muscle forces and hip kinematics. These could be beneficial for the development and treatment of running linked lower extremity injury.
