Journal of Tropical Pediatrics Nov 15, 2017
Hon KL, et al. - An appraisal was conducted of the pneumococcal serotypes and mortality/morbidity in a pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) following universal pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV) immunization. The findings shed light on the connection between SPD with substantial morbidity and mortality, irrespective of the systemic antibiotic therapy and ICU support. reduction of Serotypes 6 and 19 but not mortality/morbidity associated with SPD was yielded via the expanded coverage of 13-valent PCV, in the setting of a PICU.
