Cesarean section reduces the odds of morbidity and mortality among very low birthweight infants

Mari G, et al. - Researchers here investigated the effect of the mode of delivery (vaginal or cesarean delivery) on the infant mortality and composite morbidity-mortality rates in very low birth weight (VLBW) infants during initial hospital stay (from delivery to the time of discharge). In very low birth weight infants, cesarean delivery resulted in lower mortality and composite mortality and morbidity. They suggested considering this finding when premature fetuses are at risk of delivery.
