American Journal of Preventive Medicine Apr 22, 2019
Hallowell BD, et al. - Researchers focused on cervical cancer mortality among US- and foreign-born women by analyzing the mortality data from the National Center for Health Statistics. Deaths attributed to cervical cancer were 5,924 vs 33,893 among the foreign-born population vs US-born women, respectively. A lower cervical cancer mortality rate was observed among foreign-born women vs the US-born women, but significantly higher mortality rates were reported in older foreign-born women vs US-born women, aged 65–79 years and ≥80 years. Findings revealed significantly elevated cervical cancer mortality rates among women born in Mexico vs US-born women.
