Cerebrovascular injuries found in acute type B aortic dissections are associated with blood pressure derangements and poor outcome
Journal of Vascular Surgery Jun 28, 2018
Adas ZA, et al. - Risk factors for cerebrovascular injury (CVI) associated with acute type B aortic dissection (ATBAD) were investigated. In particular, researchers determined the possible contributory role of aggressive anti-impulse therapy. Compared to previous reports, this work displayed more frequent occurrence CVI in ATBAD. They observed increased mortality in association with CVI. The most common causes were related to cerebral hypoperfusion. Risk factors for hypoperfusion-related CVI included higher mean arterial pressure (MAP) on presentation and greater decline in MAP.
