Cerebral blood volume mapping with ferumoxytol in dynamic susceptibility contrast perfusion MRI: Comparison to standard of care
Journal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Apr 12, 2018
Varallyay CG, et al. - This retrospective study comparatively evaluated ferumoxytol dynamic susceptibility contrast (DSC) of 2 different doses to the standard of care gadoteridol by assessing the time–intensity curves and cerebral blood volume (CBV) maps in normal-appearing brain regions in patients with various brain disorders. In contrast with gadoteridol, the visual image quality exhibited mild improvement with 1 mg/kg and a notable improvement with 2 mg/kg ferumoxytol. The inference drawn was that 1 mg/kg ferumoxytol yielded similar imaging results to standard gadoteridol for DSC-MRI. Moreover, 2 mg/kg demonstrated a benefit of increased CNR. Nevertheless, it could lead to mildly increased rCBV values.
