van de Weerdt EK, et al. – The incidence of bleeding complications after central venous catheter placement in patients who had severe coagulopathy was ascertained, as well as, experts explored potential risk factors for bleeding. Results revealed the low incidence of major bleeding complications after central venous catheter placement, even in coagulopathic patients. They highlighted the lack of strong evidence supporting the correction of hemostatic defects before central venous catheter insertion, based on a systematic research of the literature.
