Cell of origin markers identify different prognostic subgroups of lung adenocarcinoma

Human Pathology Feb 11, 2018

Tabbo F, et al. - Experts attempted to examine if a six-immunohistochemical markers panel (TTF1, SP-A, Napsin A, MUC5AC, CDX2 and CK5), defining the putative neoplastic “cell of origin”, aided in detecting the prognostic subgroups among lung adenocarcinoma (ADC). The independent negative predictors of overall survival were revealed to be the bronchiolar, mixed, and null types, and the latter two exhibited a shorter time to recurrence. Data disclosed that this ‘Cell of Origin’ classifier appeared to be more predictable than morphology and genetics. It served as an independent predictor of survival on a multivariate analysis.
