CCL13 is up‐regulated in alopecia areata lesions, and is correlated with disease severity
Experimental Dermatology Feb 05, 2021
Wang D, Xueming X, Xizhe L, et al. - As per recent investigations, immunological factor is critical in alopecia areata (AA), however, there is still a need to explore the precise etiology as well as pathogenesis of AA, therefore, researchers used Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) and screened two gene expression profiles (GSE45512 and GSE68801). They found 10 up‐regulated genes as well as 107 down‐regulated genes in AA skin biopsies, on the basis of the two datasets. As per the GO and KEGG analyses, potential biological functions of CCL13, as one of the remarkably up‐regulated genes, were evident in aberrant immune response of AA. A link of CCL13 with multiple immune‐related genes was identified by the PPI network. Findings revealed that upregulation of CCL13 as well as subsequent immune‐cell infiltration was associated with AA, which could represent a promising target for diagnosis as well as treatment in AA cases.
