Headache: The Journal of Head and Face Pain Jun 14, 2018
Van Diest AMK, et al. - In order to develop a streamlined, less burdensome treatment package that would be more accessible to pediatric headache patient and families, researchers looked for the cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT-HA) treatment components which are recognized by pediatric headache patient stakeholders as most helpful and essential for reducing headache frequency and related disability. Analysis of the qualitative interviews conducted with 10 patients and 9 of their parents indicated CBT-HA as helpful in reducing headache frequency and related disability. Mind and body CBT-HA relaxation skills (deep breathing, progressive muscle relaxation, and activity pacing in particular) were recognized as the most helpful and most frequently used skills.
