Runge TM, et al. - Objectives of this study were to identify patients who suffer perforation in the context of eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) and to characterize predictors of perforation. Esophageal perforation was a rare, occurring in ~2% of cases, but serious complication of eosinophilic esophagitis. Most episodes were because of food bolus impaction or strictures, implying that patients with fibrostenotic disease due to longer duration of symptoms were at increased risk.
