Haukka J et al. - The current study showed that patients with diabetes had a poorer outcome in all-cause and cancer-specific mortality.
Methods
20078 patients with diabetes were studied.
Results
Statin use was associated with a reduced cancer-specific mortality (incidence rate ratio [IRR = 0.72]).
The IRR for CVD mortality was 0.95.
The IRR for other causes was 0.64.
The IRR for metformin all-cause mortality was 0.74, the IRR for cancer mortality was 0.75, the IRR for CVD mortality was 0.75, and the IRR for other causes was 0.68.
