Cause of death and end-of-life experiences in individuals with dementia with lewy bodies
Journal of the American Geriatrics Society Oct 11, 2018
Armstrong MJ, et al. - Experts gauged the natural history, cause of death, and end-of-life experiences of individuals diagnosed with dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB). A critical requirement for better prognostic counseling and education for persons and families living with DLB was highlighted in the findings. Such counseling can be informed by the results of the current study. The most common cause of death was the failure to thrive, followed by pneumonia and swallowing difficulties, other medical conditions, and complications from falling (multiple causes allowed).
