Cataract risk of neuro-interventional procedures: A nationwide population-based matched-cohort study
Clinical Radiology Jun 28, 2018
Cheng KL, et al. - A nationwide population-based, matched-cohort study was conducted to explore if cataract risk is linked with exposure to radiation from neuro-interventional procedures. Researchers used Multiple Cox proportional hazard regression analysis to estimate the hazard ratio (HR) of cataract risk due to radiation exposure while adjusting for potential confounding factors. The findings from the present study suggested that neuro-interventional procedures, such as brain digital subtraction angiography or endovascular embolization, could be significantly correlated with an increased risk of cataract occurrence.
