Otology & Neurotology Jun 08, 2018
Wick CC, et al. - Experts systematically evaluated the outcomes following radiation therapy for endolymphatic sac tumors (ELST) and compared the results between external beam radiation and stereotactic radiosurgery. From 42 patients, they independently analyzed 46 tumors. Findings suggested 67.4% to be the tumor control rate. Nine of 19 tumors (47.4%) were controlled by external beam radiation while 14 of 18 tumors (77.8%) were controlled by stereotactic radiosurgery when analyzing patients in which tumor was present at the time of radiation. Stereotactic radiosurgery was favored by the effect size of 30.4%.
