Carotid ultrasound findings in rheumatoid arthritis and control subjects: A case-control study
International Journal of Rheumatic Diseases Sep 07, 2018
Wah-Suarez MI, et al. - In a Mexican-mestizo population, experts assessed the carotid ultrasound (US) features, including carotid intima media thickness (cIMT) and carotid plaque (CP), and compared rheumatoid arthritis (RA)-patients and controls. As per the findings, greater subclinical atherosclerosis, represented in the carotid US measuring cIMT and CP as surrogates, was confirmed in RA-patients. More heterogeneous plaques characteristics were seen in the RA-patients with subclinical atherosclerotic disease.
