Carotid artery disease as a predictor of in-hospital postoperative stroke after coronary artery bypass grafting from 1999 to 2011
Journal of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anesthesia Nov 24, 2017
Mehta A, et al. - The goal of this research was to discover patients at high risk for stroke after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) and initiate a discussion regarding the perioperative management of such patients. Both unilateral and bilateral asymptomatic carotid stenoses were revealed as risk factors for in-hospital postoperative stroke. Several other predictors were also identified. The yielded data could assist in detecting patients at high risk for perioperative stroke and displayed the potential of decreasing the rate of a devastating complication of CABG.
