For the specific interpersonal and personal impediments to self-care as well as important therapeutic targets to optimize self-management behaviors, the CARE scale affords a brief, integrated measure. About one-third of the total sample demonstrated extreme difficulty with both factors, thereby, suggesting that pain management and self-care are significantly affected by relationship factors.
