Seminars in Arthritis and Rheumatism Mar 22, 2018
Cooksey R, et al. - Authors herein aimed to better define cardiovascular risk by examining the incidence of Major Adverse Cardiac Events (MACE) in subjects having rheumatoid arthritis (RA), psoriatic arthritis (PsA), psoriasis and controls adjusting for risk factors, inflammation and Disease Modifying Anti-Rheumatic Drug treatment. They observed additional increased cardiovascular risk in female RA and psoriasis but not PsA. In RA but not in psoriasis, systematic inflammation was seen to be higher. This suggested that there were varying mediators of cardiovascular risk across these conditions.
