Wigren M, et al. - Researchers ascertained how biomarkers reflecting four aspects of autoimmunity: Apoptosis, inflammation, tissue degradation and repair associated with cardiovascular disease (CVD) in individuals with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Findings brought to light the fact that the cardiovascular risk in SLE correlated with increased cell death by apoptosis and tissue degradation.
