Cardiopulmonary fitness in children with congenital heart diseases vs healthy children
Heart Dec 14, 2017
Amedro P, et al. - In this study, children with congenital heart diseases (CHD) were compared with age-adjusted and gender-adjusted controls in terms of cardiopulmonary fitness. Clinical characteristics associated with maximum oxygen uptake (VO2max) in this population were also explored. A significantly lower VO2max was noted among children with CHD vs normal children, although the magnitude of the difference was not large. Routine follow-up of these patients should include cardiopulmonary exercise test (CPET).
