Cardio-respiratory events and inflammatory response after primary immunization in preterm infants < 32 weeks gestational age: A randomized controlled study
The Pediatric Infectious Disease Journal Sep 26, 2017
Jmaa WB, et al. - This paper aspired to associate between postimmunization inflammation and cardio-respiratory events (CREs) in preterm infants. A link was observed between the first immunization of infants born < 32 weeks with an increase in C-reactive protein (CRP). Ibuprofen therapy markedly attenuated the variation (Δ) in CRE following first immunization in these infants. The research, however, failed to illustrate an impact on CRP and prostaglandins E2 (PgE2) levels. An analysis ought to be pursued of the anti-inflammatory treatment on antigenicity, prior to their clinical use aiming at reducing CRE after immunization in preterm infants.
