Cardiac output during targeted temperature management and renal function after out-of-hospital cardiac arrest

Journal of Critical Care Jul 18, 2019

Grand J, et al. - Researchers examined how low cardiac output during targeted temperature management (TTM) is associated with acute kidney injury (AKI) after out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) via performing single-center substudy of 171 patients included in the prospective, randomized TTM-trial. Hemodynamic data were available for 152 patients; AKI was reported in 49 of these (32%) and renal replacement therapy in the first three days was required for 21 (14%) AKI cases. AKI was identified to be associated with blood pressure, heart rate and lactate, but not with cardiac output, during 24 h of TTM in comatose OHCA-patients.
