Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging findings in 2,954 COVID‐19 adult survivors: A comprehensive systematic review
Journal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Aug 01, 2021
Hassani NS, Talakoob H, Karim H, et al. - Researchers conducted this systematic review with the aim to report the main cardiac MRI findings in COVID-19 adult survivors. They assessed a total of 2,954 COVID-19 adult survivors from 16 studies. The initial search yielded 1,601 articles; of these, 12 cohorts and 10 case series met the eligibility criteria. Different rates of cardiac MRI abnormalities were identified in COVID-19 adult survivors in the included studies; however, most of the studies, including those involving asymptomatic patients, described a notable number of patients with raised T1, T2, and/or myocardial late gadolinium enhancement. Findings overall suggest that a notable number of patients recovered from COVID-19 show the presence of myocardial and pericardial involvement.
