Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging as a prognostic biomarker in treatment-naïve pulmonary hypertension

European Journal of Radiology Dec 15, 2019

Jose A, et al. - In this retrospective single-center analysis of all individuals with a newly diagnosed treatment-naïve pulmonary hypertension (PH) between January 1, 2013, and January 1, 2019, experts assessed the role of cardiac MRI (CMR) as a predictor of clinical worsening in a cohort of treatment-naïve PH individuals. A total of 38 people, of which 12 underwent the primary outcome of clinical worsening, were included in the final analysis. In treatment-naïve PH persons, including those with WHO-Group II/II disease, both CMR and right heart catheterization measured individually and notably prognosticated clinical worsening, even following adjustment for disease severity.
