Cardiac magnetic resonance characteristics in young survivors of aborted sudden cardiac death
European Journal of Radiology Jun 15, 2018
Zaremba T, et al. - Researchers evaluated cardiac abnormalities by cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) in a population that experienced non-ischemic aborted sudden cardiac death (SCD). They also attempted to establish possible predictors of SCD. For this investigation, 36 consecutive SCD survivors (median age 37.6 years [IQR 24.1-43.2], 31% female) with no previous cardiac history or evidence of ischemic heart disease underwent CMR on day 6 (IQR 4-10) after admission. According to the findings, CMR results in young patients with aborted SCD due to non-ischemic heart disease appeared to be minor. In this population, late gadolinium enhancement seemed to have a predilection towards the inferolateral wall, although only present in small amounts.
