Cardiac computed tomography angiographic findings as predictors of late heart failure in an asymptomatic diabetic cohort: An 8-year prospective follow-up study
Cardiology Nov 02, 2017
Halon DA, et al. - Researchers performed a prospective study including asymptomatic diabetics undergoing baseline assessment by computed tomography angiography (CTA). The goal was to assess CTA predictors of heart failure (HF) or cardiovascular death (HF-CVD). Findings demonstrated that an independent prognostic value of CTA left atrial (LA) enlargement [LA/right atrial (RA) volume ratio], but not of the extent of coronary artery disease (CAD), for HF-CVD was evident, in addition to the clinical variables, in a low- to moderate-risk asymptomatic diabetic population.
