Cardiac arrest survivors lost to follow-up after 3-months, 6-months and 1-year
Resuscitation Mar 20, 2020
Jaramillo S, Flickinger KL, Repine M, et al. - Since many post-cardiac arrest (CA) patients are lost to follow-up (LTFU), so, researchers performed this prospective cohort analysis to investigate if these patients are systematically distinct from those who complete follow-up depending on demographic, resuscitation and outcome features. Participants included English-speaking CA survivors (n = 168). Experts noted that during the first year post-CA, over one-third of patients were LTFU. For demographics and characteristics of the event, differences were evident. At 3-months, LTFU patients were found to be younger, unmarried, and had longer ICU stay. A predominance of male gender, the presence of a non-shockable primary rhythm, and non-cardiac arrest etiologies were noted in LTFU patients at 6-months and 1-year.
