Jacklyn G, et al. - An analysis was formulated with the goal to describe temporal trends in the incidence of carcinoma in situ of the breast in New South Wales (NSW), Australia. It was noted that ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) incidence had not stabilized despite screening being well established for over 20 years, and participation rates in the target age range remaining stable. Especially among older women, questions were raised about the value of the increased detection of DCIS and aggressive treatment of these lesions. Findings supported trials of de-escalated treatment.
