Capillaroscopy changes are associated with disease progression in patients with early systemic sclerosis: A prospective study
International Journal of Rheumatic Diseases May 08, 2019
Camargo CZ, et al. - In patients with early systemic sclerosis (SSc) over a 3-year follow-up, researchers assessed capillaroscopy changes and identified predictors of progression to definite SSc. Forty-four patients with early SSc (LeRoy and Medsger 2001 criteria) were involved in this prospective study. In early SSc patients, a deterioration in capillaroscopy parameters was noted. An active or late capillaroscopy pattern was an independent predictive risk factor for SSc development, suggesting capillaroscopy could be a useful tool for identifying patients with early SSc at risk of disease progression.
