Can systemic thrombolysis improve prognosis of cardiac arrest patients during cardiopulmonary resuscitation? A systematic review and meta-analysis
The Journal of Emergency Medicine Oct 11, 2019
Wang Y, et al. - Researchers investigated the potential benefits associated with thrombolytic therapy among cardiac arrest patients during cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Searching PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane databases, they identified nine studies with a total of 4,384 cardiac arrest patients for the meta-analysis; these patients comprised 1,084 patients receiving systemic thrombolysis and 3,300 patients receiving traditional treatments. Outcomes revealed no improved hospital discharge rate, return of spontaneous circulation, and 24-h survival for cardiac arrest patients in correlation with systemic thrombolysis during CPR. A higher risk of bleeding among patients receiving thrombolytic therapy was observed.
