Caffeine in the management of patients with headache
The Journal of Headache and Pain Nov 02, 2017
Lipton RB, et al. - Researchers here focused on caffeine in the management of patients with headache. In this review, evidence was gained for the role of caffeine as an analgesic adjuvant in the acute treatment of primary headache with over-the-counter drugs. Caffeine doses of 130 mg enhanced the efficacy of analgesics in tension-type headache (TTH) and doses of ≥100 mg enhanced benefits in migraine. Additional studies were recommended to determine the relationship between caffeine dosing and clinical benefits in patients with TTH and migraine.
