C-reactive protein to prealbumin ratio (CPR): A novel inflammatory-nutritional prognostic factor for predicting cancer-specific survival (CSS) and overall survival (OS) in patients with resectable esophageal squamous cell carcinoma
Journal of Oncology Jul 19, 2019
Feng JF, et al. - The prognostic value of C-reactive protein to prealbumin ratio (CPR)-a new index combined with inflammatory and nutritional biomarkers- in resectable esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) was tested for the first time ever in this retrospective study including 346 resectable ESCC patients. The optimal cut-off value was ascertained using X-tile program. Researchers assessed the cancer-specific survival (CSS) and overall survival (OS) via Kaplan-Meier methods and Cox regression analyses. Findings revealed the utility of CPR, with the optimal cut-off value of 0.03, as a potential predictor in resectable ESCC patients. Poor CSS and OS were reported in relation to having a high level of CPR (> 0.03).
