C-reactive protein is associated with postoperative outcomes in patients with intestinal Behçet disease
BMC Gastroenterology Oct 12, 2021
Kang EA, Park JW, Park Y, et al. - Among patients undergoing surgical resection for intestinal Behçet disease (BD), postoperative C-reactive protein (CRP) levels were found to be correlated with postoperative outcomes.
This is a retrospective investigation of 90 patients who underwent intestinal surgery due to intestinal BD.
There was a significant link of a higher CRP level immediately post-surgery with postoperative complications (OR 1.01), re-operation (hazard ratio [HR] 1.01), and re-admission (HR 1.01).
According to the receiver operating characteristic curve, CRP has a sensitivity of 60.0% and specificity of 67.7% for predicting the risk of postoperative complications, at a cut-off value of 41.9%.
