Bronchoscopy vs an endotracheal tube mounted camera for the peri-interventional visualization of percutaneous dilatational tracheostomy: A prospective, randomized trial (VivaPDT)
Critical Care Jan 07, 2018
Grensemann J, et al. - This study was designed to assess the efficacy of a recently introduced endotracheal tube-mounted camera (VivaSight-SL tube [VST]; ETView, Misgav, Israel) for guiding percutaneous dilatational tracheostomy (PDT) in critically ill patients. Findings revealed that when compared with bronchoscopy guidance, visualization of PDT with the VST was not noninferior and afforded superior ventilation with less hypercarbia. Notably, patients requiring stable ventilation with normocarbia may benefit from PDT with the VST since visualization is not a prerequisite for PDT.
