The Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology Sep 02, 2018
Sitarik AR, et al. - This study was undertaken to determine if the association between maternal atopy and childhood allergic outcomes depends upon the mode of delivery and/or breastfeeding. The findings from the present study suggested that exclusive breastfeeding during the first month of life and vaginal delivery might mitigate the transmission of atopy from mother to child. In high-risk offspring of atopic mothers, these outcomes could have implications for potential targeted prevention strategies.
