Breast-specific gamma imaging vs MRI: Comparing the diagnostic performance in assessing treatment response after neoadjuvant chemotherapy in patients with breast cancer
American Journal of Roentgenology Mar 01, 2019
Kim S, et al. - In patients with breast cancer, researchers assessed the diagnostic ability of breast-specific gamma imaging (BSGI) and breast MRI in evaluating for residual tumor following neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC). In total, 114 patients were subjected to BSGI and MRI for initial staging and after NAC. In the detection of residual tumors after NAC, BSGI and MRI had similar sensitivities. In determining the complete response after NAC, BSGI had a higher specificity than MRI. According to this retrospective study, BSGI can be useful for predicting complete response to NAC.
