Breast magnetic resonance imaging for estimation of the tumour extent in patients with pure ductal carcinoma in situ: Comparison between full diagnostic and abbreviated protocols
European Journal of Radiology Dec 26, 2019
Shiraishi M, et al. - In this retrospective research comprising 164 individuals with pathologically verified ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) who had undergone preoperative breast MRI, expert intended to estimate the rate of concordance among pathology and preoperative breast MRI presented with an abbreviated protocol (AP) or a full diagnostic protocol (FDP) for evaluation of the tumor extent in individuals with pure DCIS. For both readers, the variation in the evaluated value between FDP and pathology was notably smaller in contrast with AP and pathology. Overall findings imply that for evaluation of the tumor extent in individuals with pure DCIS, preoperative MRI with FDP was more accurate compared with AP only.
