Breast lesions classified as probably benign (BI-RADS 3) on magnetic resonance imaging: A systematic review and meta-analysis
European Radiology | Apr 19, 2018
Spick C, et al. - Researchers probed into the prevalence, malignancy rates, imaging features, and follow-up intervals for probably benign (BI-RADS 3) lesions on breast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Findings reported highest malignancy rates in non-mass lesions followed by mass lesions, and foci. Non-significant negative correlation was determined between prevalence and malignancy rates. Though the prevalence of MRI BI-RADS 3 lesions was strongly heterogeneous, pooled malignancy rates met BI-RADS benchmarks. Variation was found in the malignancy rates, exceeding 2% in non-mass lesions. Data recommended 24-month surveillance for the detection of all malignant lesions.
