Breast implant–associated anaplastic large cell lymphoma: A systematic review

JAMA Surgery Evidence based | Oct 27, 2017

Leberfinger AN, et al. - Researchers in this study aimed to assess how breast implant–associated anaplastic large cell lymphoma (BIA-ALCL) develops, its risk factors, diagnosis, and subsequent treatment and to disseminate information about this entity to the medical field. In patients with breast implants, breast implant–associated anaplastic large cell lymphoma was a rare cancer but it seemed increasing in incidence. For all physicians involved in the care of patients with breast implants, it seemed important to be aware of this entity and be able to recognize initial symptoms.
