Breast ductal carcinoma in situ with micro-invasion vs ductal carcinoma in situ: A comparative analysis of clinicopathological and mammographic findings
Clinical Radiology Jun 01, 2021
Zhang M, Lin Q, Su XH, et al. - This study attempted to ascertain the differences in clinicopathological and mammographic findings between ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) and ductal carcinoma in situ with microinvasion (DCIS-MI) and evaluate clinicopathological and mammographic factors correlated with DCIS-MI. Between January 2016 and June 2020, researchers retrospectively identified all DCIS patients with or without micro-invasion who had undergone preoperative mammography at The Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University. Univariate and multivariate binary logistic regression analyses were used to assess the relationships of clinicopathological findings with DCIS-MI. Via using the Pearson chi-square test, imaging findings were compared between the groups. They enrolled a total of 445 DCIS lesions and 151 DCIS-MI lesions in the final analysis. As per the findings, a large extent, high nuclear grade, comedo-type, and negative PR were found to be independent predictors of DCIS-MI. The results showed that lesions with calcifications and regional calcifications were more likely correlated with DCIS-MI on mammography.
