Breast cancer staging: Combined Digital breast tomosynthesis and Automated breast ultrasound vs Magnetic resonance imaging
European Journal of Radiology Sep 11, 2018
Girometti R, et al. - In this retrospective study, researchers ascertained if, for staging breast cancer, combined digital breast tomosynthesis and automated breast volume scanner (DBT-ABVS) was comparable to magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) by analyzing data from 73 patients with histologically proven breast cancer who had preoperative DBT, ABVS and 1.5 T MRI between July 2015 and July 2016. According to the findings obtained, DBT-ABVS demonstrated acceptable diagnostic accuracy in staging breast cancer, though it did not perform as well as MRI. Results of this study suggested that this strategy might be used if MRI is unavailable or not feasible.
