Breast cancer–related deaths according to grade in ductal carcinoma in situ: A Dutch population–based study on patients diagnosed between 1999 and 2012
European Journal of Cancer Aug 23, 2018
van Maaren MC, et al. - In ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) patients following surgical treatment in the Netherlands, authors ascertained the breast cancer-specific survival (BCSS) and overall survival (OS) according to grade. They selected all DCIS patients diagnosed between 1999 and 2012 from the Netherlands Cancer Registry. In DCIS patients, they noted excellent BCSS and OS. As experts observed superior rates for low-grade DCIS, investigating whether active surveillance may be a balanced alternative for conventional surgical treatment was justified.
