Breakthrough invasive fungal infections in liver transplant recipients exposed to prophylaxis with echinocandins vs other antifungal agents: A systematic review and meta‐analysis
Mycoses Aug 18, 2021
Gatti M, Rinaldi M, Ferraro G, et al. - No association of receiving echinocandins with raised risk of breakthrough-invasive fungal infections (IFIs) in orthotopic liver transplant (OLT) recipients appeared.
From PubMed-MEDLINE, Embase, study registries, and reference lists, researchers screened 698 articles, and included ten studies (3 RCTs and 7 observational).
Echinocandins and other antifungals did not differ in terms of breakthrough-IFIs at the end of prophylaxis.
However, a definitive interpretation could not be made as there was large diversity in the comparator group.
