Breakfast consumption and obesity among preadolescents: An epidemiological study
Pediatrics International Nov 22, 2019
Champilomati G, Notara V, Prapas C, et al. - A cross-sectional survey was carried out involving 1,728 children aged 10–12 years and their parents, during school years 2014–2016 in order to investigate the relationship between breakfast consumption and childhood weight status, in association with different socioeconomic and lifestyle factors. It was found that the frequency of breakfast consumption was not related to children's overweight/obesity and this may result in a deeper examination of the foods taken during breakfast. Moreover, bread or rusks and chocolate milk appeared to have a shielding impact, however, to investigate the potential mechanisms of this observation, additional nutritional analysis is required.
